Series Points Explained...

The NORBA Michigan State Championship series will consist of the following races:

April 4 - Z2 Kalamazoo, MI
April 24-25 - Z2 Kalamazoo, MI
July 24-25 - Location TBD
September 18-19 - Z2 Kalamazoo, MI
October 23-24 - Z2 Kalamazoo, MI

There will be no races dropped. If a racer does not attend a race, the racer will receive zero points.

The racers eligible for the 2004 national championship will be those within the top 10 as of the July 24-25 race. The end of the year standings will determine those elgible for the 2005 national championships.

Each category will be broken down into Junior, Senior and Master's age groups.

Here is how the point system works:

Each class has a base point value. Each racer gets the base value plus 1 point for each person you beat plus 1 point.

The base points for each class are:
Beginner: 10 points
Sport: 20 points
Expert: 40 points
Pro: 80 points

Example: there are 5 racers in the beginner master's class. The point break down would be:

1st: 15 points (10 + 4 + 1)
2nd: 14 points
3rd: 13 points
4th: 12 points
5th: 11 points

If you miss a race, your not out of it. Instead, your just behind everyone else. If you won 4 races and missed only 1 race, you would still have a good shot at winning the series.

Also, racers that upgrade to a higher class during the season will transfer their points to the new class.

Confused? Ask away.
